With the name that translates to “Lucky Lady,” “Mina” is a bay filly out of our mare Gloria Salutat and by Chorizo, a Shire/Oldenburg cross. Mina is a very sweet, intelligent filly with amazing presence. She is usually the first to greet us in the pasture, but as soon as we set her loose in the round pen to show off, she swells up and just dances. She has incredible reach and beautiful collection as well as extension. In her inspection, she scored Gold Premium, and she scored 70% in her first in-hand show (winning was 73%). She has been easy to work with, taking everything in stride and with class.

On her lines, Chorizo is by a Shire mare bred by Fox Valley Shires, one of the country’s top breeders of Shire horses, and out of Rainbow, one of the top scoring stallions from Germany. Antigone won many of her saddle classes and was a favorite mare of her owner’s, an excellent breeder of Shires and warmbloods. Chorizo is one of the sweetest stallions I have known, never threatening to nip or take a wrong step. Mina should mature to about 16.1 to 16.2, making a moderately sized sporthorse. Her movement is very smooth and comfortable from what I have gathered from our few sessions under saddle.

Movement & Behavior

Mina should make an excellent all-purpose horse of highest caliber. Her dam passed on her sensitivity to the tiniest of aids, and Rainbow passed his extreme intelligence. If trained with sensitivity and finesse, Mina should be able to offer anything from just a thought and shift of weight, just like her dam. Already in our ground work, I simply twitch my finger and she obeys whatever I ask her to do. She learned her voice commands in a couple days and mentally has learned proper head carriage and stretch (she is still developing her strength to maintain it for longer periods of time).

Mina is currently offered for sale to the right home. She is now schooling walk and trot classically off the longe and long-lines beautifully both in the arena and on the trails. She is absolutely easy-going and easy to train. She is so much fun to work with and takes her job very seriously. She will be perfect for the adult amateur who wants a fun, safe horse to train all the way and be able to do anything on the side for fun. I plan to start her driving a cart in addition to riding, and I plan to start showing her this winter or spring, as she is progressing along very quickly. Price subject to change as training progresses. She is available for a custom foal or can be sold in foal to stallion of choice.
